Alcoa Technical Center volunteers helped construct a game board to enable pre-engineering and science students at Mary Queen of Apostles School in Arnold to participate in a robotics competition. The ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together in Our Neighborhoods) event also included painting in the school’s classrooms. As a result of ATC's volunteer efforts, the school received a $3,000 ACTION grant from Alcoa Foundation, which will help pay to install Internet access in a classroom designated for pre-engineering and science-related programs.

Alcoa Technical Center served as the corporate sponsor of the Valley Point YMCA 10K Race on October 27 at Wolf Pack Park in Lower Burrell. Valley Point YMCA has branches in New Kensington and Allegheny Township. This event raised money for YMCA “scholarships” – memberships for families who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate in the YMCA programs.
