Alcoa promotes tree planting in Sabiñánigo

The initiative falls within the scope of the Ten Million Trees campaign
Alcoa Sabiñánigo has donated mature trees (oaks), which the Asociación de Vecinos Virgen del Pilar (Virgen del Pilar Residents' Association) is planning to plant next Sunday the 17th at Sabiñánigo's Sierra de Guarra Slope. Participating residents, who may be joined by any volunteers wishing to collaborate, will commence the activity at 10 o'clock in the morning.
This activity, to be developed in collaboration with the Sabiñánigo City Council, forms part of the Ten Million Trees planting project promoted by Alcoa, in which company employees from all around the world participate.
Alcoa's tree planting program confirms the company's commitment to sustainable development and the defense of the environment. Furthermore, it contributes toward fulfilling the goals of Alcoa's Environmental Strategic Plan. A greater concern for air cleanliness, better soil and water usage and the protection of personal health - involving employees and the surrounding community - are the main goals proposed by this plan. The fact is that trees have the capacity to produce much more oxygen than is necessary and balance the carbon dioxide levels that are concentrated in the atmosphere and influence the planet's climate.
This initiative, of an environmental nature, forms a part of the numerous actions on the part of Alcoa volunteers, with the company's backing, that have been carried out to recover areas in the surroundings of Upper Aragon (Alto Aragón) and the environs of the Pyrenees.
