Mosjøen Smelter
The Mosjoen smelter produces 190,000 tons per year of
aluminum in the form of rolling slabs, low iron foundry ingots, and it also produces
its own prebaked anodes. The plant began production in 1958. Towards
the end of the 1980’s, one of the two smelting lines was converted from Soderberg
technology to prebaked anode use. Modernization of the remaining cells and
installation of 72 new cells were completed in 2003.
