Reduce environmental impacts - increase profitability
Certificate EMS according to ISO 14001:2004

Alcoa Fastening Systems Aichach has implemented the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) during the last year. Now we got the Registration by BSI - Certificate.

AFS Aichach is a stock and distribution site; main activities are purchasing, storage and supply of standard and non-standard parts and kit of parts for aerospace and commercial applications. Obtaining the Registration, AFS Aichach gains the lead, because Alcoa demands EMS Certificates only from producing sites.

It is Alcoa's policy to operate worldwide in a safe, responsible manner that respects the environment and the health of our employees, our customers, and the communities where we operate. AFS Aichach identified EMS as a tool to promote the policy, to save the habitat for following generations and to enlarge profitability. Therefore it was a logical step to lead the EMS to Registration.

Already during a pre-audit, BSI observed a Best Practice for the systematic reuse of incoming packing materials. Furthermore a saving about 50% by reducing domestic waste was achieved in the first half of 2006.

The thought of environmental protection must be carried by all. Therefore all our employees are responsible to succeed our environmental goals. All persons employed are informed about environmental, health and safety topics and are requested to co design and develop our EMS.

We endeavour to use all resources with greatest effectiveness; particular to optimize the consumption of energy, water and other materials. We expect the adherence to this principle also by assigned contractors. In this way, natural resources shall be preserved and unnecessary environmental impacts shall be avoided. Moreover we aim for reduce the waste arising of our site. If this is not possible, the reutilisation stands before the disposal.

Before implementing new technologies and services their environmental aspects have to be analysed, decisions consider ecological and economical factors.
