Alcoa Fastening Systems Aichach Celebrates 20 Years Jubilee

On Saturday the 28th of May the employees of AFS Aichach together with their families and friends celebrated a cheerful 20 years birthday party with over 200 people who experienced a very sunny and diversified day.
Not only a place of work
“We do not think that our company is only a place of work but also a place where we spend a major part of our lives, so it is for us reason enough to celebrate such an important happening like the 20 years jubilee together with our families” said Robert Crisp the General Manager of AFS Aichach. He added: “Intercommunity is our idea of living in those places in which we as a company is resident. We are convinced that our success is dependant from the economic well being of the communities around the world and in which Alcoa is having factories and offices.” Therefore further activities are planned within scope of the jubilee in which our neighbours, fellow citizens as well as the city and surrounding countryside will be involved.
Time journey through 20 years
“20 years – is not long, compared with the duration of our working lives. In comparison with a lot of new start up companies, which are not long in the market, it is a very long time.” Robert Crisp said at the event. “Especially under the aspect that AFS Aichach is in the position to present a continuous growth in turnover.” A hearty applause was given to the founder of the company Mr. Bernd Becker, who spoke about the beginning of the company in the basement of his house. He also characterised the times from the development of the company to a worldwide premium distributor and service provider for the aerospace market. Becker said: “Today as a Vice President of Fairchild Corporation I have nothing more to do with aircraft but with Harley-Davidson motorbikes. But I am always very happy to see the success of AFS Aichach. The Mayor of Aichach Mr. Klaus Habermann used the example of AFS for promotion of the community. He also said that a competent and loyal work force which is present in this region is vital for the positive development of a company. The strong way in which AFS is seen by outsiders is a figurehead for our town.
AFS Aichach
Alcoa Fastening Systems – existing under this name since 2002 in Aichach – is a worldwide active service provider for the aerospace market. The original company was founded in 1985 as private company. In 1987 the company was expanded under the name AS+C, Aviation Supply+Consulting GmbH. Under this name the company achieved in one decade of growth and innovation a good reputation in the aerospace market, it was then bought out in 1997 from The Fairchild Corporation / Fairchild Fasteners and the company was given the name Fairchild Fasteners Direct OHG (GmbH & Co.). In 2001 the name was changed again to Fairchild Fasteners Aichach GmbH and in 2002 the successful Alcoa group integrated the company into the business unit called Alcoa Fastening Systems.
