The Alcoa unit in Sorocaba, up-state So Paulo, has been in the municipality since 1990 and makes tools and accessories for the aluminum extrusion operations of Alcoas other units in Brazil.
Alcoa in Sorocaba has been contributing to the extrusion units in Brazil by implementing the Alcoa Business System (ABS), which ensures delivery agility (98% of the tools are delivered within five days), top quality tools and low costs. It also has the most advanced technology available for handling extrusion tool projects, which was developed at the Alcoa Technical Center (ATC).
The unit, located 96 km [60 miles] from the city of So Paulo, is active in the local community through the companys various social responsibility programs, like Action, BRAVO! and BRAVO!
