The plant contributes much to the community through volunteer work, with a majority of its employees having participated in activities to improve living standards. Since 1973, more than R$20 million have been donated to Minas Gerais through entities such as the Alcoa Foundation, the Alcoa Institute and the plant itself. These funds enable projects benefiting areas including education and health. One example is the construction of a scientific research laboratory and lodgings for researchers from the Poços de Caldas Botanical Garden Foundation.
