Alcoa Eastalco Works is located in the Buckeystown area of Frederick County, Maryland, about 45 miles from both Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland.  The plant occupies 400 acres of a 2,200 acre tract.  Eastalco Works is capable of producing 185,000 tons of aluminum each year.  Production at the Eastalco plant was curtailed in December, 2005, but before then, the plant produced rolling ingots, bullets and T-ingots.  Eastalco received re-certification of the ISO 9002-2000 Quality Standard and is registered under the ISO 14001-1996 Environmental Standard.  The Laboratory was re-accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) for chemical and environmental analysis.  The start up was on April 1, 1970.  Alcoa continues to pursue affordable power that will allow the re-start of the plant.
