Preparatory Studies for Jobs in Energy-Intensive Industry and Related Occupations Offered at East Iceland Vocational School

Alcoa welcomes the opportunity to work on the development of educational materials for an energy-intensive curriculum in co-operation with the East Iceland Vocational School. As of September 2003, young as well as old students can engage in courses at the East Iceland Vocational School to prepare for relevant jobs in energy-intensive industry or related occupations. Students planning to apply for jobs at Fjarðaál will thus have a good, solid education from the school when manufacturing begins at Fjarðaál in 2007.
Fjarðaál is part of one of the most extensive investments ever undertaken in Iceland. This project is designed to strengthen and diversify the economy of Iceland, while contributing to the development of East Iceland. Fjarðaál will be an important element of Alcoa's growth strategy in primary metals. When completed in 2007, Fjarðaál will have approximately 320,000 metric tons per year of capacity.
