Three new managers in the Alcoa Fjardaál smelter
Three new managers have joined the Alcoa Fjardaál management team. Magnús Thór Ásmundsson is the new Manager of Production Development, Gudný Björg Hauksdóttir Manager of Safety and Health and Jóhann F. Helgason Manager of Reliability. Whereas earlier, three of the company’s twelve managers were women, they are now four.
Magnús Thór Ásmundsson, the new Manager of Production Development, has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iceland, and an M.Sc. from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet in Denmark. He brings to Fjardaál his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of production and production development. Magnús worked for Marel, a leading global provider of advanced equipment and systems for the food processing industry, in 1990-2009, first as Field Manager of Research and Development and later as Production Manager. Gudný Björg Hauksdóttir has assumed the position of Safety and Health Manager for Alcoa Fjardaál. Gudný joined the company in January 2005 as a human resources specialist. She is a political scientist with a diploma in Human Resources Management from the University of Iceland. Gudný is from Reydarfjördur and worked for Hönnun Engineering before joining Fjardaál. Jóhann F. Helgason has been hired as Reliability Manager for Alcoa Fjardaál. Jóhann is a mechanician and technologist from Ingeniørhøjskolen (engineering university) in Aarhus, Denmark, and joined Alcoa Fjardaál in August 2006 as maintenance specialist in the reliability team. Jóhann came to Fjardaál from Labyrinth Business Solution in Boston where he worked in programming and the installation of the Microsoft Business Solution Navision software.
