Alcoa Foundation supports Þekkingarsetrið in Egilsstaðir

Þekkingarsetrið in Egilsstaðir, E-Iceland, has received a ten million ISK grant from the Alcoa Foundation. The grant is to be used to prepare for offering Master’s studies in environmental- and national park management.

Þekkingarsetrið plans to offer those studies in E-Iceland in 2009. It is to build on access to the unique nature of E-Iceland with its glaciers, volcanos, forests and other wilderness. The Vatnajökull National Park will also be a venue for research. Scientists in E-Iceland will take part in the teaching and research for the studies, but the plan is also to seek expertiese in other parts of Iceland and abroad.
