Alcoa Fjarðaál welcomes report on national park north of Vatnajokull Glacier

Alcoa Fjarðaál welcomes the report on the National Park North of Vatnajokull, prepared by a committee led by the Ministry of Environment and dedicated to foundation of a national park in that area.

The unanimous support within the committee for this report lays the groundwork for what could become one of the most remarkable national parks in the northern hemisphere.
Alcoa Fjarðaál  has already declared its interest in contributing to starting work on this important nature conservation project.  The company will continue to consult with the government on how best to participate in this project as it moves forward.   Alcoa particularly appreciates the valuable work done by Minister for the Environment Siv Fridleifsdottir, the members of the committee and the parties they represent, and Secretary-General Magnus Johannesson, who directed the work.   Alcoa Fjarðaál is ready to help make this landmark report and the park it envisions a reality in East Iceland.
