Bravo! program
This program encourages and recognizes the personal, individual and community activity of The Alcoa Foundation’s employees.
Each Alcoan, who performed at least 50 hours of community work for a non-profit organization during a calendar year, can contribute $250 to the specific institution where they performed work. This amount is undersigned by The Alcoa Foundation, upon the assignment’s certificate of completion notice.
In 2002, 10 people participated in the Bravo! program. In Mór they participated in the beautification of the day-carecenter and in the elementary school area. In Kisbér they regularly checked on the quality of the fishing pond, and participated in lawn mowing and landscaping. Also in Mór, they did the maintenance work of the school building, organized activities for the children and cooked for them.
Starting the two, above-mentioned programs seemed to be successful in their very first year and they demonstrated our employees’ and their companies’ sense of responsibility, commitment, and social sensitivity toward the communities.
This is also exemplary for other multinational companies, especially for the ones that operate in Hungary. We emphasize the fact that our charitable activity is not connected in any ways to our companies’ profit-oriented activities. Neither one of the donations carry commercial value. The principles of The Alcoa Foundation explicitly forbid affiliating the donations with reciprocate actions of any nature. Our companies believe that our behavior of being a good corporate citizen is an ethical commitment that also contributes to the company’s high prestige, recognition and legacy.
