The HNITC selected Alcoa for the corporate award citing Alcoa's commitment, exemplary and substantial support, continuously extended to the communities. It also highlighted the direct participation of Alcoa employees in community projects through ACTION and Bravo programmes. HNITC, a Foundation and NGO, is aiming to strengthen community life in Hungary by encouraging and monitoring the nationwide activities of some 50,000 civil bodies, engaged basically in philanthropy. Since 1995, HNITC offers every year an award to corporate, individual, and non-profit donors for their outstanding contributions. Previous winners in the corporate category have included: Inter-European Bank, Shell Hungary, Hungarian Telecommunication Company (owned by Deutsche Telecom), AB-AEGON Insurance, Siemens and Levi Strauss.
