Business Hall of Fame induction and American Red Cross award

The Connecticut Business Hall of Fame inducted Alcoa Howmet, Winsted, for its "continuous efforts to provide exceptional service and leadership to the business community and the citizens of Connecticut," stated the proclamation issued by Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. “Our induction is an unexpected reward that recognizes our aim to make a lasting difference in our community as a respected business and as a responsible civic partner,” said Plant Manager Laura Carpenter. Winsted also received the Community Impact Award from the Waterbury Chapter of the American Red Cross at the organization's Images of Heroes Gala.
