Russell W. Porter, Jr. Elected Alcoa Vice President and Deputy General Counsel
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2002--Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA)
announced that Russell W. Porter, Jr., 54, was elected a vice
president of the company and deputy general counsel effective
immediately. Mr. Porter has overall responsibility for Alcoa's North
American legal matters and continues to have accountability for
Litigation.
Mr. Porter, who grew up in Pittsburgh, joined Alcoa in 1972 in
Pittsburgh as an attorney, becoming general attorney in 1977 and
managing general attorney in 1983. He was assistant general counsel
for Alcoa from 1989 to 1992 and again in 1994 until being named senior
assistant general counsel in 1999, and deputy general counsel in 2000,
specializing in litigation, employment and general commercial law. He
served as corporate director of industrial relations and human
resource planning from 1992 through mid-1994.
Russ received a B.S. degree from Colorado State University in 1969
and a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in
1972, where he served on the Law Review and was awarded an Order of
the Coif.
He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny Bar
Associations.
