Sandra Beach Lin Named President of Alcoa's Closures Business
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2002--Alcoa (NYSE:AA)
announced today that Sandra Beach Lin, 44, has joined the company as
president of Closure Systems International (CSI), the Alcoa business
that produces plastic and aluminum bottle caps, plastic bottles,
capping and other equipment, and supplies for worldwide packaging
markets. She succeeds Ronald A. Glah, vice president of Alcoa and
president of Closure Systems International, who retired March 1, 2002.
Alcoa CSI currently operates 22 plants in 15 countries. Ms. Beach
Lin's most recent position was president of Bendix Commercial Vehicle
Systems, part of Honeywell International.

capabilities, global management skills and leadership, which are
necessary attributes to run an Alcoa business successfully," said

Ms. Beach Lin has nearly 20 years of experience in the specialty
chemicals, medical products and automotive components industries. She
held a series of marketing, product management and sales positions for
chemical manufacturer American Cyanamid for eight years until she
joined Honeywell (then AlliedSignal) in 1994 in Singapore as director,
Asia/Pacific, responsible for the company's Asian specialty wax
business. Following this assignment, she held a succession of
management positions in Honeywell's Specialty Chemicals and Automotive
business units. In 2000, Ms. Beach Lin was named president of the
company's Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems business, with
accountability for a $500 million North American truck brake business.
Ms. Beach Lin graduated magna cum laude in 1980 from the
University of Toledo in Ohio with a degree in production and general
management. In 1982, she received an M.B.A. in marketing, policy and
control from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
