Alcoa Names Jinya Chen President, Asia-Pacific Region
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that Jinya Chen was named president,
Asia-Pacific Region based in Beijing, China. Mr. Chen has overall
responsibility for Alcoa’s China Mill Products
business and regional administrative functions such as legal, finance,
human resources, and corporate affairs and government relations. Mr.
Chen came to Alcoa from Delphi Corporation where he was Director, Asia
Pacific for Electronics and Safety. He succeeds Lloyd Jones, who will
retire from Alcoa at the end of this year. Alcoa currently has 35
operating locations throughout China and other Asia-Pacific nations.

Mr. Chen career progress during his 12-years with first General Motors
than Delphi Corporation, the global supplier of automotive systems and
components, includes serving as general manager, China Technical Center,
where he developed the scope of business and areas of research and
growth. As President, China Operations from 2002-04, Mr. Chen led
business development for five divisions of Delphi to capture growth
opportunities in the country’s fast-growing
automotive market. From 1999 until 2004, he worked as General Counsel,
Asia Pacific for Delphi, which involved managing all the practice areas
in major Asia-Pacific countries. He joined GM in 1995 as regional
counsel, responsible for issues in China, Taiwan, India, and other
Asia-Pacific nations. Earlier in his career, he worked seven years as an
attorney in the law office of Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett LLP
located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Mr. Chen graduated from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, with a
degree in Economics in 1982. He obtained a law degree in 1985 from East
China University of Politics and Law (ECUPL) in Shanghai, and in 1988
received a masters in law from the University of Michigan Law School,
Ann Arbor. He is a member of the American and Michigan Bar Association
and is a U.S. citizen.
