Reynolds Wrap(R) Aluminum Foil Ranked #1 in Overall Brand Equity Third Year in a Row in EquiTrend(R) Brand Study
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2006--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that its Reynolds Wrap(R) Aluminum Foil brand ranked first for the third year in a row in overall brand equity in the Spring 2006 EquiTrend(R) Brand Study of consumers across the U.S. The EquiTrend Brand Study measures and compares brand equity for more than 1,100 brands in 39 categories as rated by nearly 26,000 consumers. The study provides a comprehensive view of a brand's current position against competitors, and across categories, and in comparison to world-class brands.
Brand equity is determined by using three of seven key measures: familiarity, quality, and purchase consideration. Other criteria include brand expectations, overall relevance and distinctiveness. The rating provides a concise measurement of brand health, appeal and status within the domain of brands at large.
"Recognition by consumers as the top brand for three consecutive years is a tremendous distinction and proof of the brand health and continual appeal of Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil among the general population," said Paul Thomas, Executive Vice President, Alcoa and Group President, Alcoa Packaging and Consumer Products.
Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil has been included in the top rankings of the EquiTrend survey for the past 13 years.
Following behind Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil in the overall ranking of brand equity was Ziploc Food Bags, Hershey's Milk Chocolate Candy Bars, and Kleenex Facial Tissues.
The Spring 2006 EquiTrend(R) Brand Study is a brand quality-perception study conducted online once a year by Harris Interactive(R) among a cross-section of approximately 26,000 consumers, ages 15 and older within the U.S. where each consumer rated 80 brands. This latest survey was conducted between March 7-16, 2006.
