Alcoa Recognized for Global Vision and Stewardship

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2006--Alcoa announced today that it is the recipient of the 2006 International Bridge Award for Commerce from The Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors (PCIV) for its global vision and global stewardship. Alcoa was honored during a reception held in Pittsburgh earlier this week. The International Bridge Award represents a collaboration between the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and PCIV with goals to advance regional awareness of Pittsburgh's international leadership in Commerce, Culture and Community.

"Alcoa is more than a producer of aluminum; it has a rich history of corporate citizenship and philanthropy helping the Pittsburgh community and communities around the world where it has operations," said Gail Shrott, Executive Director PCIV.

"Pittsburgh is part of the fabric of Alcoa, and increasingly the threads in the fabric stretch to many parts of the globe," said Russ Porter, Vice President and Special Counsel for Alcoa, on accepting the award. "Alcoa has grown to be a broader more culturally rich company and this is reflected in our global reach - having operations in 43 countries - and the diversity of our workforce. Our interaction with the PCIV, whether Alcoa acting as a host for international visitors or Alcoa seeking help from the PCIV for our employees abroad, have enhanced our experiences and broadened our outlooks. Pittsburgh and Alcoa are richer for this international collaboration."

The annual awards program began in 1993 to acknowledge corporate, organizations and individuals whose efforts have succeeded in building bridges between the Pittsburgh region and other parts of the world. Past corporate recipients include Sony Electronics Inc., U.S. Steel and the H. J. Heinz Company. The mission of PVIC is to forge cultural, educational and business relationships between Western Pennsylvania and the global community through citizen diplomacy.

Alcoa is the world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities, and is active in all major aspects of the industry. Alcoa serves the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets, bringing design, engineering, production and other capabilities of Alcoa's businesses to customers. In addition to aluminum products and components, Alcoa also markets consumer brands including Reynolds Wrap(R) foils and plastic wraps, Alcoa(R) wheels, and Baco(R) household wraps. Among its other businesses are closures, fastening systems, precision castings, and electrical distribution systems for cars and trucks.
