David C. Dobson Joins Alcoa as President of Its Engineered Products Business
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2004--Alcoa announced today that David C. Dobson, 51, has joined the company effective January 1, 2004 as president of Alcoa Engineered Products, the Alcoa business which supplies extruded aluminum products to customers worldwide in the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, building and construction, and industrial and consumer markets. He succeeds Veronica M. (Ronee) Hagen, who was named chief customer officer for Alcoa last June. He will be located in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Dobson comes to Alcoa from Pittsburgh-based Fisher Scientific Ltd., where he was vice president of the research division since 2003. Previously, he worked for more than 20 years for General Electric Company in key leadership positions in several GE businesses, including business development manager for the automotive sales and marketing group for GE Plastics, general manager of motors and controls for GE Industrial Systems, and president of North America for the GE Lighting business.

Biographical information on Mr. Dobson follows:
David C. Dobson as president of Alcoa Engineered Products is responsible for 12 plants and multiple sales offices and service centers in North America that produce or provide extrusions and tubes for various industries, including the transportation and building and construction markets.
Mr. Dobson's business career includes executive management positions at Fisher Scientific Ltd. in Pittsburgh, where he was vice president of research since 2003 and nearly 25 years with General Electric Company where he progressed to various senior level management positions culminating in 2000, when he was named President of North America for GE Lighting, one of GE's businesses.
Mr. Dobson joined GE in 1978 in a sales position for GE Plastics in Boston. During his time at GE Plastics, he rose through a series of marketing management positions until 1988 when he became business development manager for automotive in the GE Plastics organization. Two years later he was named director, Ford Business Development for the unit and in 1994 regional general manager. In 1996, he moved to the GE Industrial Systems business as general manager HVAC Motors & Controls. In 2000 he became vice president, North America for GE Lighting. He left GE in 2003 to assume his most recent position.
Mr. Dobson is a 1974 graduate of the College of New Jersey, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration. Following graduation, he joined Amoco Corporation, the multinational energy company, where he held sales assignments for four years, before he left to join GE in 1978.
