Deceuninck and Alcoa Reach Agreement in Principle for Deceuninck to Acquire Alcoa's Dayton Technologies Subsidiary
ROESELARE--February 18, 1997--
Deceuninck Plastics Industries N.V., of Roeselare, Belgium, and Alcoa of
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, jointly announced today that an agreement in
principle has been reached for Deceuninck to acquire Alcoa's Dayton
Technologies Inc. subsidiary.
Dayton Technologies based in Monroe, Ohio, is a leading U.S. producer of
extruded profiles for the vinyl window and patio door markets. In
addition to the extrusion of high-value profiles, Dayton's operations
also include raw material compounding and die design and production.
Dayton Technologies has 300 employees.
Deceuninck designs and produces PVC-U window and door systems and
building profiles and has sales and production subsidiaries in most
European countries. Deceuninck is one of the leading companies in its
field with sales of nearly US$183 million in 1996 (BEF 5870 million). It
employs 892 people.
Alcoa is the world's largest aluminum producer, with 1996 revenues
totaling US$13 billion. The company has 170 operating and sales
locations in 28 countries.
