Richard B. Kelson Named Alcoa Executive V.P. and Chief Financial Officer
PITTSBURGH--May 20, 1997--
Alcoa announced today that Richard B. Kelson, 50, is named executive
vice president and chief financial officer of Alcoa. He had been
executive vice president - environment, health and safety and general
counsel for the corporation. He succeeds Jan H. M. Hommen, who resigned
from Alcoa earlier this year.
Mr. Kelson joined Alcoa as an attorney in 1974 and became general
attorney in 1977. He was appointed managing general attorney in 1983;
assistant secretary and managing general attorney in 1984; and assistant
general counsel in 1989. Mr. Kelson was elected senior vice president -
environment, health and safety in 1991 and to his most recent position
in 1994.
A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Kelson received a bachelor's degree in
political science in 1968 from the University of Pennsylvania and a
Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972.
Mr. Kelson is a member of the American, Allegheny County and
Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is also a member of the American
Corporate Counsel Association, the Board of Directors of Alcoa
Foundation, the University of Pittsburgh Law School Board of Visitors,
and the Pennsylvania Business Roundtable. Mr. Kelson, and his wife,
Ellen, reside in Mt. Lebanon.
