Timothy S. Mock is Named Alcoa Vice President and Controller

PITTSBURGH--July 29, 1999-- Alcoa's Board of Directors named Timothy S. Mock, 57, vice president and controller, effective September 1, 1999. He succeeds Earnest J. Edwards, 61, senior vice president and controller, who will retire at the end of 1999.

Timothy S. Mock has been president of Alcoa Automotive Structures, one of Alcoa's business units, since 1998. Previously, he was managing director of Alcoa Italia, based in Milan, Italy.

Mr. Mock, born in Pittsburgh, began his Alcoa career at Cleveland (Ohio) Works in 1964 as an industrial engineer after graduating from Lehigh University. He became chief industrial engineer there in 1974 and transferred to Alcoa's Massena (N.Y.) Operations as controller in 1978. In 1981, Mr. Mock was named controller, Flat-Rolled Products Division in Pittsburgh, and was later promoted to group controller of Packaging Systems. He returned to Massena Operations in 1987 as operations manager and was named president of Alcoa's Wire, Rod and Bar business unit a year later. In 1995, Mr. Mock headed the transition team for the acquisition of Alumix, S.p.A., Italy's state-owned aluminum producer that Alcoa acquired in 1996, now known as Alcoa Italia.
