Alcoa Confirms Production at St. Croix Refinery Ceased Due to Hurricane
PITTSBURGH, Pa.--November 17, 1999--
Alcoa confirmed that it had ceased production at its
600,000-metric-ton-per-year alumina refinery in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin
Islands, yesterday due to Hurricane Lenny, which is expected to strike
the island today.
Production will recommence after an assessment of the refinery has been
made to determine if there has been any damage.
