Franklin L. (Frank) Feder was named Regional Chief Executive Officer of Latin America & Caribbean in October 2011, following Alcoa’s establishment of a regional headquarters located in São Paulo, Brazil.  In this newly created position, Frank leads a Latin American Regional Council that brings together all Alcoa business groups to drive growth in both downstream and upstream businesses in this strategically important region for the company.  Frank reports directly to Alcoa Chairman and CEO Klaus Kleinfeld.

Most recently, Frank was President, Global Primary Products – Latin America and Caribbean,  In this role, he oversaw mining and refining and smelting operations in Brazil and, since 2007, mining and refining operations in Jamaica and Suriname.  Frank also maintained the duties he had as President of Alcoa Latin America, which encompassed managing Alcoa’s businesses, energy-generating assets, and government and community relations in South America.  Frank was elected a vice president of Alcoa in 2001. 

Frank has had a long association with Alcoa Aluminio, Alcoa’s Brazilian affiliate, having joined Aluminio in 1990 as director of Corporate Planning, and then serving as Chief Financial Officer from 1994 until 1999.  Frank moved to the U.S. in 1999 where, until early 2001, he worked in Alcoa’s Corporate Development group in Pittsburgh.  In 2001, he was elected a vice president of the Company and named Vice President, Analysis and Planning based in New York.  In this assignment, he was responsible for providing business and financial analysis at Alcoa’s corporate level, including support for internal and external financial reporting, coordination of the operating planning process and engagement in global finance initiatives.  In 2005, Frank returned to Brazil as President, Alcoa Latin America.

Earlier in his career, Frank was Vice President and Partner at the international consulting firm Booz-Allen & Hamilton.  He also held management positions at Adela Investment Company, a private development bank, and Technomic Consultores, a management consultancy, all based in Sao Paulo.

Frank was born in New York City in 1951, and moved to Brazil when he was a youngster.  He graduated from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paulo in 1972 with a degree in business.  He also obtained an MBA degree in 1977 from the International Management Development Institute (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He and his wife, Iara, have one daughter, Melissa.
