Matthias Obermayer

Matthias Obermayer joined Alcoa in February 2008 in the newly created position as vice president, Alcoa Program Office, with key responsibility to work closely with Alcoa businesses to support the company’s goal of profitable growth. Matthias’ group supports businesses and corporate in shaping and driving Alcoa’s three strategic priorities. Matthias joins Alcoa with 12 years of international business experience that includes successfully leading growth programs and post merger integrations. Most recently, he served as vice president of Siemens Management Consulting (SMC), the in-house consulting unit of Siemens, a global technology company. He facilitated a number of post-merger integrations, including the integration of Siemens Medical's $6 billion acquisition of DPC, Inc. and Bayer Diagnostics, among others. He helped establish and lead the SMC New York Office, serving Siemens' North American operations. His experience developing long-term growth programs resulted in $1 billion in additional sales and his extensive knowledge of business benchmarking, restructuring, growth programs and strategy on a global scale are instrumental in his current role. Matthias was born in Munich, Germany on November 9, 1969. He earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Augsburg in Germany, and completed post-graduate research studies at the University of Washington's MBA program in Seattle, USA. He also studied corporate strategy at the INSEAD International Executive Program in Fontainebleau, France. Matthias is based in Alcoa’s New York Office.
