Roy Harvey
Executive Vice President, Alcoa

Roy Harvey was appointed President of Global Primary Products (GPP), Alcoa's Upstream business - including the five business units of Bauxite Mining, Alumina Refining, Aluminum Smelting, Casting and Energy - in October 2015.  Roy is also a member of the Alcoa Executive Council, the senior leadership team that sets strategic direction for the Company, and is an Executive Vice President of Alcoa.
In his current role Roy has executive leadership of Alcoa’s Upstream business, a cost-competitive industry leader in bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminum production. The operational footprint includes 64 facilities worldwide, and approximately 17,000 employees. It has a world-class asset base including the world’s largest bauxite mining portfolio with a low 19th percentile cost curve position; the world’s largest alumina refining system with a first quartile cost position, well positioned to serve major adjacent growth markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America; a highly competitive second quartile aluminum smelting portfolio; an unrivalled value-add casthouse network in close proximity to customers, and a substantial portfolio of energy assets with power production capacity of approximately 1,550 megawatts, with operational flexibility to profit from market cyclicality.
Prior to his current role, Roy served as Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety and Sustainability.  As part of this role, he also oversaw the Alcoa Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in the U.S. 
Roy has held a variety of operational and financial assignments across the U.S., Europe and Latin America during his Alcoa career, predominantly in the Upstream business.  As GPP’s Chief Operating Officer he oversaw the day-to-day global operations of the Company’s mining, refining, smelting, casting and energy businesses.  Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Upstream business.  Earlier, he was Alcoa’s Director of Investor Relations, interfacing with securities analysts and investors globally on Alcoa’s performance and strategic direction, and prior to this role was Director of Corporate Treasury.
Roy joined Alcoa in 2002 as a business analyst for GPP in Knoxville, Tennessee.  While there, he worked with the global casthouse system to develop performance measurement systems and drive casthouse profitability.  In 2005, he moved to Brazil as casthouse manager in the São Luis smelter and then as the plant controller. In 2007, he became plant manager for the San Ciprián, Spain, smelter and a year later named Director of Finance and Business Integration for GPP Europe.
Before joining Alcoa, Roy was Corporate Manager of Environmental Affairs at Greenstone Resources Ltd., a gold mining company based in Central America. 
Roy graduated with honors from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, simultaneously earning master’s degrees in International Business and Corporate Finance as a fellow of the Lauder Institute International MBA program, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Columbia University. In 2008, Roy was named to the prestigious Young Leaders Program of the World Economic Forum. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. Roy resides in New York and is married with two daughters.
