Roy Harvey
Chief Operating Officer
Global Primary Products

Roy Harvey was promoted to Chief Operation Officer for Alcoa's Global Primary Products (GPP) business in July 2013.  He focuses on the day-to-day operations of Alcoa's 22 smelters and nine alumina refineries worldwide, as well as the company's bauxite assets in Australia, Brazil, Jamaica, Suriname, Guinea and soon Saudi Arabia.  He is also a member of the Alcoa Executive Council, the team that sets strategy direction for the company.
Most recently, Roy was Chief Financial Officer for GPP.  Previously, he served as Director of Investor Relations, interfacing with securities analysts and investors globally on Alcoa’s performance and strategic direction.  Additionally, he was Director of Corporate Treasury, where he was instrumental in developing an extensive enterprise risk management program.
Roy joined Alcoa in 2002 as a business analyst for GPP in Knoxville, Tennessee.  While there, he worked with the global casthouse system to develop performance measurement systems and drive casthouse profitability.  In 2005, he moved to the São Luis Plant in Brazil, where he first served as the casthouse manager in the smelter and then as the plant controller for the location.  In 2007, he became plant manager for the San Ciprián, Spain, smelter and a year later named Director of Finance and Business Integration for Global Primary Products Europe.
Before coming to Alcoa, Roy worked with Greenstone Resources Ltd., a medium-sized gold mining company based in Central America, as corporate manager of environmental affairs and operations reporting.  He was based in Panamá City, Panamá, for three years and then Managua, Nicaragua, for an additional year. 
Roy graduated with honors from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, simultaneously earning master’s degrees in International Business and Corporate Finance as a fellow of the Lauder Institute International MBA program, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Columbia University. In 2008, Roy was named to the prestigious Young Leaders Program of the World Economic Forum.
Roy and his wife, Loraima, have two daughters, Emma and Elizabeth, and live in northern Westchester County, New York.  Roy was born in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania on February 9, 1974.
