Jack is a member of Alcoa’s Executive Council, the senior leadership group that sets strategy for the world’s largest integrated aluminum company. Jack is Vice President, Human Resources for Alcoa responsible for supporting 59,000 people in 31 countries across the world. He oversees the company’s human resource management functions including benefits and compensation, labor relations, performance management, transfer and relocation, recruitment and organization development. Prior to assuming this position in February 2010, Jack was responsible for global external and internal communications, government affairs and e-business for the Company. In addition, he provided oversight to the Alcoa Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations with assets of approximately $370 million. Before joining Alcoa, Jack had been Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Marketing, for Siemens Corporation. Jack has held senior communications positions for CBS, Westinghouse and General Electric. He was also CEO of GCI Group, an international public relations and government affairs firm with operations in 24 countries. A Vietnam veteran who also led military units in Europe and Korea, Jack was an Army Ranger and paratrooper. He served as a strategic planner in the Pentagon and as chief speechwriter to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger during the Reagan Administration. Jack graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Engineering and received a Master's Degree in English from Indiana University. He taught English, philosophy, and ethics at West Point. He is the author of "A Test for Technology," a book on electronic warfare and technology in the Vietnam War. Jack was named 2005 Marketing Executive of the Year by the Business Marketing Association, and in 2007 was given the Atlas Award for Lifetime Achievement in International Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America.
