Alicante, Spain 2011
In February, employees from Alcoa’s Alicante location planted 600 oak trees as part of an ongoing reforestation effort in the Sierra de las Puntes de Gosalvez, a mountain range located 15 kilometers (nine miles) away.
Representatives of the nonprofit Anilia Association planted 100 trees, shrubs, and other plants in May as part of an ongoing partnership to beautify the gardens located outside the Alicante plant.
In November, Alcoa employee volunteers, Boy Scouts, local children, and members of Los Monteros, a local neighborhood association, planted 300 pines and shrubs on nearby Fontcalent Mountain. This was the fourth consecutive year that Alcoa Alicante volunteers supported this environmental improvement activity.
