Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 2004

Within the western part of Pennsylvania, 2,800 black gum trees are taking root due to the voluntary efforts of employees at Alcoa's Pittsburgh offices and nearby Alcoa Technical Center.

"The tree plantings are a great reminder to our employees and their families of the importance of taking care of the environment," said Jamie Mackay, manager of EHS resources for the Pittsburgh region. "This is a great gift that this generation can leave our children."

The gift keeps giving, as Pittsburgh region employees and local community groups request additional tree donations for special events and community beautification projects.
