Cleveland, Ohio 2006

To mark World Environment Day in June 2006, 20 Cleveland Works employees and their family members cleaned up the campgrounds and planted 100 pine trees and other vegetation at Hiram House Camp in Chagrin Falls. In addition, the location donated US$15,000 toward the annual Campership Fund, which helps disadvantaged and economically challenged youth.

In October, more than 20 employee volunteers landscaped a newly renovated historic shelter for victims of domestic violence during Alcoa's Month of Service. The group also planted a tree in the front yard to represent new beginnings for residents of the shelter. In addition, Cleveland Works donated US$20,000 toward an education center in the shelter so women and their children have a place to reflect and keep up with schoolwork during this transitional time.
