Seixal, Portugal
Following destructive forest fires in Portugal between 2002 and 2004, the 1,000 trees given to employees at the Alcoa Seixal location in 2004 are a step toward replacing the numerous trees the country has lost.
Some employees planted their trees in their backyards, and others donated them to the Flamingo Group to be planted in a botanical reserve to replace trees burned in the area. There is also a tree-planting project with local schools.
