Belaya Kalitva, Russia 2005

Following its acquisition by Alcoa in early 2005, the Belaya Kalitva facility initiated its Ten Million Trees program through the planting of the first trees by Alain Belda, Alcoa chairman and CEO; Ricardo Belda, executive vice president of Alcoa's European region; and Bill O'Rourke, president of Alcoa Russia.

The launch of the initiative coincided with Russia's celebration of the 60th anniversary of the World War II victory. War veterans and Alcoa expatriates joined employees in planning the initial trees, which included chestnuts and firs.

As of July 2005, almost 160 trees have been planted at the location site.
