Deschambault 2006
Alcoa's smelter facility in Deschambault donated 385 lilac, linden, serviceberry, maple, and cherry trees to the beautification committee of Deschambault-Grondines, which is replanting a 1,000-foot stretch of road. The donated trees will act as a windbreak to protect the road.
Deschambault employees also received 500 red maples and 500 yellow birches, the emblem of Québec.
Since the tree-donating program began in 1999, Deschambault has given away 11,335 trees to its employees and the community.
