Becancour 2010

On October 22, employees from Alcoa’s Aluminerie de Becancour facility planted 10 trees at École Saint-Paul but left a small mound of dirt next to every tree. Each of the school’s classes “adopted” one of the trees, conducting research on the species and creating a song about it. During the formal tree-planting ceremonies, students from each class sang the song they created and added a handful of dirt at their tree’s base while making a wish. Older students then shared a presentation they had developed about their tree.

The event was the second step of an arboretum project aimed at creating an ecological and educational environment in Becancour’s city center. The project is supported by Aluminerie de Becancour and the ZIP Committee.
