Alcoa Earthwatch Fellows... tackling the biggest sustainability challenges of our time!
Through a partnership between Alcoa, Alcoa Foundation and Earthwatch Institute, Alcoa Earthwatch Fellows work alongside scientists on critical environmental research projects – helping to unlock solutions to some of the biggest sustainability challenges of our time.
Alcoa Earthwatch Fellows will contribute to critical environmental research projects at the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, Pyrenees Mountains in France and Great Otway National Park in Australia.

In addition to contributing to the knowledge needed to build a sustainable future, this hands-on support for scientific fieldwork provides Fellows a rich understanding of global environmental challenges and how individual daily behaviors, both at work and at home, can contribute to a more sustainable future.
The Earthwatch curriculum helps Fellows translate their scientific learnings from the field to day-to-day life at work and in the community.
The program is just one of many global and local outreach programs supported by Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation to address environmental sustainability.
This year’s Alcoa Earthwatch Fellows will set out for three expeditions:
  • Atlantic Forest around National Park Serra do Itajaí, Brazil: August 23-29
  • Haute Garonne region of the French Pyrenees: September 19-25
  • St. Bees Island in Queensland, Australia: November 8-14
