Fifty years ago, a new kind of foundation was formed by Alcoa-one
that would be asset-based in order to ensure consistent community
giving over the long term. Today, with more than $344 million
in assets, Alcoa Foundation invests in improving the quality
of life in more than 26 countries worldwide where Alcoa operates.
Grantmaking is just part of the story.
Together with Alcoa, the Foundation provides grants, expertise,
products and employee volunteers to Alcoa communities and the
nonprofits who serve them. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary,
Alcoa Foundation is announcing a new Social
Venture Initiative that will improve nonprofit effectiveness
and sustainability, an increased emphasis on employee engagement,
and methods to chart progress in these efforts over time.
