Alcoans in Motion

Getting fit and raising money for charity at the same time. Breaking a sweat never felt so good!

That’s how much we donate when Alcoa employees team for marathons, walkathons and other fitness events.

Some of the most popular ways to donate time, effort – and maybe a few pounds – are marathons, walkathons, bike rides, and other fitness events. Alcoans in Motion is our way of supporting Alcoa employees who participate and raise funds. We’ve structured the program to get as many people involved as possible.

  • Teams must have a minimum of five Alcoa employees
  • Friends and family are encouraged to participate
  • Alcoa Foundation will contribute $2,500 to the charity

Alcoans in Motion has been very successful. Take a look at some of the regional highlights to see how hard our team members have worked… and what a powerful impact they’ve had.

Alcoa Fastening Systems & Rings Aichach hosted a bowling tournament, with more than 30 employee participants, to benefit of the Voluntary Fire Fighters Aichach.

Known as ‘The Randonnée Vélo Énergie,’ Martin Brière, Alcoa Canada, Europe and Africa President and Martin Bates, GPP Strategy and Transformation President, accompanied other Alcoa Canada employees and community members who cycled 161 miles and raised more than $45,000 for Opération Enfant Soleil, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to developing high-quality pediatrics by contributing to social health projects for youth in Quebec.

Alcoa employees from Amorebieta, together with the nonprofit organization Zornotzako Zornotza Sub Urpekaritza Kirol Elkartea organized a charitable race to benefit needy families.
In the race, participants ran with a suitcase for the ride of the Ogenbarrena district. This initiative aims to draw attention to the increasing number of families that are in a precarious situation as a result of the economic crisis.
