Worldwide Month of Service

 

Alcoa's annual Worldwide Month of Service program in October each year is the centerpiece of Alcoa's Volunteer Program. Month of Service mobilizes Alcoa’s global workforce to make a positive difference in the communities where they live and work. 


Month of Service is the culmination of year-round volunteer efforts by more than 31,000 Alcoa employees, who last year gave 1 million hours of service – the equivalent of more than 475 people working full-time.
 

2011 Month of Service Highlights:

  • Record 56% employee participation rate 
  • More than 1,200 projects to support local causes 
  • Partnered with more than 1,800 nonprofit organizations 
  • Planted more than 34,000 trees 
  • Recycled more than 87,300 aluminum cans 
  • Distributed more than 4,400 recycling bins 
  • More than 890,000 community members benefited

  • 16,000 trees planted

  • 18,000 meals served
