Forty volunteers beautified a neglected yard belonging to the block of flats where over 70 Alcoa employees live. A little Zlata Gugueva with a big enthusiasm helped her parents and the whole team plant 100 trees and made two flowerbeds.

Safety Officer Everard Pryce took great care in teaching young Dijoinne Buchanan and Antoine Miller how to plant a fruit tree and care for it to ensure its survival. Everard was continuing the Jamalco tradition of planting trees to ensure our community’s sustainability for future generations.

A healthy lifestyle awareness was deployed to 3rd and 4th grade students of a secondary school near the Suralco plant. Since exercising is the basis of a healthy lifestyle a dance-baton was organized after the awareness program.

Protecting the wetlands is very critical for the city of Qinhuangdao. Bohai volunteers and community members attended a wetlands protection activity, during which this injured bird was rehabilitated and returned to the wild.

A group of Alcoa employees, who are also volunteer firefighters for the City of Baie-Comeau, came with their hearts in their hands and gave their precious time to make furniture, repair toys, and play games with children at Manicouagan Health and Social Services.

Organizing a treat of Jamaican bulla cakes and avocado pear for Beatrice and other residents of the May Pen Infirmary was a pleasure for Davia Lamey. She regularly visits the residents to comb their hair and clip their nails. This helps let them know that someone cares.

Volunteers carried 35 elderly residentspeople of two resthomes to the beach in São Paulo. Some of them were physically disabled and had never been to a beach before—making it an unforgettable experience for all.

Twelve employees from Alcoa Global Business Services in Székesféhrvár, Hungary, painted a 270 meter long fence in anticipation of Pozsonyi Street Kindergarten’s 35th birthday ceremony. The employees spent about 55 hours to sand the fence, remove the rust, and repaint it.

Volunteers made La Morelle Elementary's playground safer, refreshed the paint on the buildings, and planted trees. With a restricted budget, the administration immensely appreciated this ACTION program for the great cost savings.

To drive increased employee volunteerism and celebrate Month of Service, Alcoa Foundation launched a photo contest and will award five US$5,000 grants to the winners' chosen charities.
