Lysane Martel

Director, Communications and Public Affairs, Alcoa Canada


Lysane joined Alcoa Canada as a communications advisor in 2004. A few months following her arrival, she was invited by the company to represent the Alcoa Foundation for the whole of Alcoa’s business units in Canada. In 2009, she was appointed to seat on the region’s management committee as Director, Communications and Public Affairs. Her functions include responsibility for Alcoa Canada’s internal and external communications and accountability for the company’s public relations and media relations.  She namely coordinates public affairs and communication strategies that are instrumental to the company’s growth as well as its presence among the community and employees. In addition, she supports Alcoa’s initiatives as a major social and economic partner of the communities in Quebec where Alcoa is present.
Lysane has acquired extensive experience in corporate communications in the past 20 years. She has been employed by top-ranking organizations in Québec, namely as senior communications advisor for the office of the President of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, one of the most important institutional fund managers in North America.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Concordia University and a certificate in Public Relations from the University of Montréal.
Lysane is a very active volunteer in her community and has a passion for literature, design and architecture. She is also the author of two books: Le Carnet de réceptions and Cahier de vacances.
