Month of Service 2003 Events

Taking Action is a global initiative involving thousands of Alcoa volunteers from more than 20 countries. With a theme last year of Conservation and Sustainability, Alcoans went to work in their communities cleaning up watersheds, planting native trees and other vegetation, educating children about hazardous waste and recycling, and coaxing wildlife back to their native habitats. Thousands of volunteer hours were logged by these Alcoans in the communities they call home. A garden to educate the community
Anglesea
Alcoa volunteers assisted local community members with the construction of an indigenous garden in the Anglesea Community House precinct.

Families in Staunton and Waynesboro are warming up in their new homes for the holidays, thanks to the hands-on efforts of Alcoans who volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to build two houses.

Alcoa will take time out during the Week of Service to recognize the many employee volunteers and NGOs who work tirelessly in their community to improve the quality of life there. A new brochure and video will spread the news to the community.
