December 2008 - Also in 2008 Alcoa Foundation declared October as "Month of Service" again and asked all Alcoa facilities worldwide to participate. During that month, all Alcoa employees should be honoured who are voluntarily working for NGOs during the year or the Alcoa facilities should organize special events to help the local communities.
The 7 German Alcoa facilities organized 13 events, 4 Alcoa Foundation grant checks were officially handed over to the NGOs for special projects, 8 ACTION events were organized and one blood drive. Employees were asked to give blood in order to help people suffering from leukaemia world wide.
All events were very successful and altogether 155 Alcoa employees participated in Germany. Through the ACTION events, another 21.000 US$ will be given from Alcoa Foundation to the NGOs.
