4xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of silicon resulting in a lower melting point and superior in-service wear resistance. Primarily used in the automotive market, 4xxx series alloys do not require hard coat anodizing. 6xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of magnesium and silicon offering superior machinability, excellent stress relief.
