Product Attributes

Aluminum is not just aluminum anymore.  Ordering aluminum without considering its’ physical and mechanical attributes is, well, …...who knows what you’re going to get!

With Alcoa’s cold finished aluminum and screw machine stock, available in a variety of alloy and temper combinations, you’ll see why one alloy can never be an across the board solution again!  Each alloy and temper combination imparts key performance attributes intended to provide the end-user market superior in-service performance and lower total part cost by enhancing your productivity.

Product Attributes Alloy Options Typical Uses
2xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of copper to obtain superior machinability and high strength. 2011

2618
Adapters, gears and shafts, couplings, bolts, fuse parts, nuts, pistons, fastening devices, carburetor parts, automotive pistons, knobs, camera parts, meter shaft and gears, nozzles, oil line filters, machine parts, hose parts, electrical connectors, bushings, caps, hydraulic valve bodies
4xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of silicon resulting in a lower melting point and superior in-service wear resistance. Primarily used in the automotive market, 4xxx series alloys do not require hard coat anodizing. The alloy has excellent machinability and drilling characteristics, enhanced formability and very good residual stress control. 4032

C278
Valves, master brake cylinders, bushings for rack and pinion steering systems, sound recording devices, bearings and hydraulic applications, copier parts, transmission valves
6xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of magnesium and silicon offering superior machinability, excellent stress relief. Commonly used in applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance and excellent anodizing response. 6013

6020

6061
Braking systems, hydraulic applications, couplings, fittings and hardware, connectors, hinge pins, brake pistons, appliance fitting, valves and valve parts, hydraulic pistons, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, nuts, bolts, roller skate parts, fasteners
7xxx Series alloys: Aluminum with a major alloying element of zinc excellent deep drilling, good tool wear and differentiated thread rolling. Very high strength, tight microstructural control. 7075 Aircraft and automotive fittings, gears and shafts, fuse parts, meter shafts and gears, missile parts, regulating valve parts, worm gears, keys, aircraft, aerospace and defense applications.
