More than 12,000 Alcoans Pitch In For Fourth Annual Green Works

Alcoa Foundation announced today that more than 12,000 employees around the world volunteered as part of the Company’s fourth annual Green Works campaign. From April 21 to June 21, Alcoa employees worked alongside colleagues, families, friends and community members to clean up their communities by reducing their carbon footprint, recycling to save energy and planting trees to replenish the earth.

Alcoa employees participated in more than 250 community service projects during the two-month global volunteering initiative, which was created to support the Company’s environmental programs and celebrate international environmental holidays like Arbor Day, Earth Day and World Environment Day.

2014 Green Work Highlights:
• Planted 63,000 trees to support Alcoa’s Ten Million Trees campaign
• Recycled 10,500 pounds of electronics, preventing toxic materials from entering landfills
• Led 125 environment workshops to show young people how to preserve the planet
• Rehabilitated 150 rivers, parks and recreation areas

“When we roll up our sleeves and pitch in to make our communities better, we demonstrate to our families and neighbors precisely what we value as Alcoans,” said Esra Ozer, President, Alcoa Foundation.
