About the Foundation
Since its formation in 1952, Alcoa Foundation has supported communities in which Alcoa Inc. has operated with its charitable contributions consistent with its goals and objectives. With the separation of Alcoa Inc. into two new companies, Alcoa Corporation and Arconic Inc., in November 2016, the charitable objectives of Alcoa Foundation will continue through two new foundations, the new Alcoa Foundation (associated with Alcoa Corporation) and the Arconic Foundation (associated with Arconic Inc.). The assets of the original Alcoa Foundation are in the process of being allocated to these two new foundations.
The original Alcoa Foundation has changed its name to “Legacy Alcoa Foundation” and is winding up its affairs and will discontinue its operations. Sustainability is an integral part of Alcoa’s culture and core strategy as a mining and metals company. Alcoa Foundation invests where Alcoa has a presence to further sustainability and to partner with communities in addressing local needs as they adapt to a rapidly changing world. Alcoa Foundation believes that it can make a positive difference in sustainability to the benefit of not only its many stakeholders, but also those of Alcoa. To that end, the Foundation supports organizations that are dedicated to 1) promoting the prevention of and resilience to climate change and 2) the restoration and preservation of biodiversity.
