(Troubleshooting Guidelines)
PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSEREMEDY
Spindle breaks high.Oversize holeCheck hole diameter and drilling technique. Remove and replace with oversize rivet.
Rivet grip too longRemove and replace with proper grip rivet.
Installation toolDefective or wrong tool/nose piece.
Defective rivetInspect rivets and test function in a test hole.
Spindle breaks low.Undersize holeCheck hole diameter and drilling technique. Remove rivet, ream hole to size and install a new rivet. When working with wet sealant, allow for a little extra hole clearance to provide space for the sealant.
Rivet grip too shortRemove and replace with proper grip rivet.
Misaligned holesReview hole prepartation and assembly technique.
Tool cockedAlign installation tool with axis of rivet.
Installation toolDefective or wrong tool/nose piece.
Defective rivetInspect rivets and test function in a test hole.
Gripping jaws slipping.Build-up of debris in jawsDisassemble and clean jaws; replace jaws if worn.
Head not seated.Hole cockedHole should be normal to surface within 2┬░
Tool cockedAlign installation tool with axis of rivet.
Eccentric countersinkEnsure good fit between hole and countersink pilot tool.
