Alcoa manufactures the Loader Slot Bearings.
Advantages
This is a unique type of spherical bearing designed for high load capability and ease of assembly. The ball and race can be fully machined prior to assembly. A slot, which is a silhouette of the ball (misaligned 90°), is machined into one face of the race. The ball is inserted into the race and rotated to properly align with the race for operating position.
Major Advantages are;
- Close tolerance can be achieved by grinding or lapping ther inner spherical diameter of the ourter member.
- Excellent conformity between ball and outer member.
- Close tolerance on radial and axial movement.
- Easily and quickly assembled to operating position.

1. Loader Slot & Loader Slot Rod End
This slotted entry type of spherical bearing is a unique design, capable of transmitting heavy loads. Also it is easily and quickly assembled to operating position, and the ball can be replaced in service without replacing the entire bearing. Can be inserted in rod end assembly.
2. Split Ball or Race
The ball or race is made by matching two half parts which allows assembly of the individual pieces.
