Tooling and Design
Engineered Plastic Components provides tooling and design from an onsite 34,000 square foot facility. This site provides injection mold tool construction, product design and analysis, mold design and analysis and mold maintenance.
 
Product Design and Analysis
Product design capabilities include 3-D solid modeling and FEA. Product design analysis includes a mol-flow/part-fill of the product as part of the DFM process as it relates to injection molding. There are seven CAD workstations dedicated to product design. The CAD software generally utilized for product design is Pro-E. Other product design software includes SDRC, UG, Pro/Mechanical and Pro/Plastic Advisor.
 
Mold Design and Analysis
Mold design and analysis capabilities include 2-D and 3-D design along with 3D solid modeling. Mold design includes mold-flow/part-fill and runner sizing as part of the DFM process. There are eight workstations dedicated to mold design. The CAD software generally utilized for mold design is CADKEY. Other software includes Pro-E, UG, Pro/Plastic Advisor and MOLDFLOW Mold Advisor.
 
Plastic Injection Mold Build
The 19,000 square foot, 65 person mold building shop includes state of the art equipment such as CNC machining centers, manual CNC EDM and wire EDM. Additional capabilities include milling, grinding, jig grinding and mold base construction. CNC and EDM related hardware and software includes twelve workstations using MASTERCAM, SMARTCAM and CADKEY. Mold build capabilities include 3-Plate, Hot runner manifolds, quick change units, shuttle and rotary insert molds and co-injection molds.
